In 1968, Rankin/Bass made a stop-motion animation movie that told a story based on the Christmas carol "The Little Drummer Boy", which gave the boy a name (Aaron) and even more of a back-story. They also created a "Book II" some years later, which continues the adventures of Aaron and the events unfolding in Bethlehem/Judea.
